Common Name: Staurogyne Sp. Porto Velho
Staurogyne Porto Velho is a popular aquarium plant that provides unique ground coverage. It can be grown in both submerged aquarium conditions or emersed in paludarium or terrarium enclosures. When grown in the aquarium, Staurogyne Porto Velho produces narrower leaves that are primarily green in color with potential for a slight purplish sheen depending on the conditions provided.
Staurogyne Porto Velho should be provided with nutrient-dense soil, CO2 injection and moderate lighting to growth healthily in the aquarium. This particular species requires slightly more attention and care when compared to the popular midground plant Staurogyne Repens and is best for aquarium hobbyists who have established tanks and knowledge in growing aquarium plants. Porto Velho is a moderate grower and will require periodic maintenance once the plant is established.
Notes:
- Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
- Please be sure to remove this plant from its pot. Remove the cotton surrounding the roots and plant into a quality substrate. For instructions on how to properly prep “potted” aquarium plants, click here.
- CO2 injection will yield better growth.
- Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.
