Common Name: Silver Queen
This very rare crypt from Borneo makes a beautiful dark tone for the foreground of an aquarium. Silver Queen has light or dark green pointed oval leaves with a wavy shape. The leaf has elegant pink or bronze spotting and can take on a pink tinge. When grown emersed it produces an impressive flower with a long, pink spathe. This plant is more difficult to grow submersed. This plant will grow longer and faster in a pH above 7, but they can tolerate more acidic conditions. All crypt plants hate changes in water parameters, and will under go “crypt melt” if conditions vary too much. The leaves of the plant begin to rot and essentially melt away. If this process begins, you can cut away any rot and attempt to stabilize the water. It is normal for crypts to melt when introduced to a new tank and should produce new growth once they have acclimated.
