Black Lava Rock is created by the cooling of magma and is an extremely porous stone commonly utilized by the aquascaping community. Black Lava Rock is dark black in color, lightweight, and has a very high surface area. The extra surface area will allow more space for beneficial bacteria to colonize, improving the overall health of the aquarium. These pieces will have a predrilled cave, which provides the ideal environment for small cave dwelling animals such as crayfish and plecostomus. Mix and match these pieces with regular Black Lava Rock to create your dream scape.
Notes:
- Stones average the size of a softball with pre-drilled caves averaging about 1-2″ in width.
- Stones require rinsing prior to use.
- Stone coloration darkens when wet.
- Some stones may alter water chemistry. Please do thorough research to ensure this stone is suitable for your setup.
Important: This stone is best suited for freshwater shrimp, nano fish, or small fry. If you have larger, curious fish or other fauna (such as a betta fish) that may try to explore such small crevices, there is a risk they may get caught or stuck in the cave. Please be mindful of this before placing it in your aquarium.
